TRACIE GROVE SMITH
|
A partner with the firm, Tracie Smith enjoys a general civil trial practice representing
individuals, businesses and corporations in both state and federal courts. Her sub-specialty
is in the areas of medical malpractice, insurance defense and commercial litigation.
Tracie Smith also offers mediation and arbitration services in areas of general
civil and domestic relations and is registered with the Georgia Office of Dispute
Resolution.
She received her B.A. degree, cum laude, with a double major in history and business
management, in 1985 from Emory and Henry College in Virginia. While in college,
she was a recipient of several academic scholarships and awards, including the Armbrister
Award, Allegheny Ludlum National Scholar, and Preston Crew History Award. A recipient
of Justice Alexander Harmon Scholarship, Ms. Smith graduated from Washington and
Lee University School of Law in Virginia in 1988. A member of Washington and Lee’s
Moot Court Board, she was also the recipient of the John W. Davis Moot Court Best
Brief Award.
After graduating from law school, Ms. Smith practiced in the areas of civil litigation
in the states of Tennessee and Texas before moving to Savannah, Georgia, in 1992.
Prior to joining the firm in 2005, she was a senior trial attorney for Allstate
Insurance Company, serving as lead counsel in a multitude of cases in southern Georgia,
and in 2005, Ms. Smith was recognized for obtaining 100% client satisfaction and
100% trial success rate.
Ms. Smith is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation-only trial
honorary society, whose national membership is limited to 3,500 attorneys selected
for their effectiveness and accomplishment in litigation and trial work.
Ms. Smith has served as a board member of Marshlands, Inc. a non-profit agency addressing
the needs of at-risk juveniles; a TIPS volunteer; a member of Mary Telfair’s Hospital
Advisory Council and church council member of Isle of Hope United Methodist Church.
She remains active in local and state bar organizations and community activities.
